Powers of Attorney: Licenses to Steal

Financial powers of attorney can be useful and inexpensive tools by which third parties are allowed to carry on the financial affairs of incapacitated persons. However, powers of attorney also grant broad and sweeping powers that can be misused. Accordingly, this paper broadly examines practical problems in the use of powers of attorney (or, in other words, why powers of attorney amount to licenses to steal).
