Theresa Frierson is a highly respected estate planning and probate attorney with decades of experience advising individuals and families on sophisticated wealth transfer strategies. Theresa graduated with high honors from Lamar High School before attending The University of Texas at Austin, where she earned her Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance from the McCombs School of Business. She went on to receive her law degree from The University of Texas School of Law.
Theresa began her legal career at Foreman & Dyess, where she developed a strong foundation in estate planning and probate law. Following the firm’s dissolution in 1984, she joined Hirsch & Westheimer, where she became a partner and continued to expand her practice. In 1999, Theresa founded her own firm, focusing on estate planning and probate matters for high-net-worth individuals and families. Over the course of her career, she has guided clients through the design and implementation of advanced planning strategies, including family limited partnerships, generation-skipping transfer tax planning, and other sophisticated vehicles aimed at minimizing tax exposure and preserving wealth.
Board Certified in Estate Planning and Probate Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization since 1984, Theresa has consistently been recognized by her peers for her excellence in the field. She has been selected as a Super Lawyer annually from 2012 through 2026. Known for her thoughtful, relationship-driven approach, Theresa takes pride in advising multiple generations within the same families, helping clients navigate both the legal and personal dimensions of estate planning.
Outside of her practice, Theresa enjoys exercising, reading, and engaging with the arts. She values spending time with her husband, three children, and nine grandchildren.
