Attorney Jeffrey “Jeff” M. Harris grew up in Belton, Texas, where his desire to support people like those he knew—small business owners and tight-knit families—inspired him to pursue a career in law.
Jeff graduated in 1993 from Northwestern University with a Bachelor of Arts. A past president of the Northwestern University Club of Austin, Jeff continues to serve on the club’s board of directors. He has served on the Northwestern Alumni Association Clubs Committee since 2002 and was elected to the Northwestern Alumni Association Board of Directors as a director at large in 2003.
After completing his undergraduate studies, Jeff chose to pursue a law degree. While in law school, he had the opportunity to study abroad at the University of Melbourne in Melbourne, VIC, Australia. He earned his J.D. from the University of Texas School of Law in 1996. With a strong interest in languages, Jeff has studied Spanish, Italian, and Slovak.
Jeff is a member of the Austin Bar Association and the Austin Bar Association Estate Planning and Probate section. His primary areas of practice include general and advanced estate planning strategies, probate, trust and estate administration, guardianship, and Medicaid planning.
Jeff’s first job following graduation from law school was with a small personal injury and criminal defense firm, which he lovingly refers to as his “school of hard knocks” job. After a very short time, he left that practice to enter the estate planning world, which he knew would better suit his interests. He has since accumulated over 20 years’ experience in boutique estate planning, probate, guardianship law, and all areas of wealth transfer planning.
From foundational estate planning to sophisticated planning strategies for individuals, families, and business owners, Jeff works diligently to ensure his clients’ assets go to their intended beneficiaries, and that maximum wealth is preserved. His guiding goal is partnering with his clients to ensure their final wishes are met in a predictable manner.
